The perfect location
Larch House is situated in a beautiful rural landscape, yet surprisingly accessible location, in one of the most dramatic and scenic areas of the UK.
Spending time here provides the chance to slow down and connect with the ever-changing sights, sounds and beauty of wild nature – whilst enjoying the comfort of a modern, warm, spacious and well-equipped house.
You can experience autumn colour, winter light, spring growth and long summer days – each tell a different story through dramatic skies and shifting landscapes. It’s an environment equally suited to relaxation and exploration.
The house offers space, privacy and doorstep access to incredible natural beauty. The Glenshee valley is a Scottish hidden gem where breathtaking landscapes, abundant nuture, rich history, and outdoor adventures await.
"Several whisky distilleries are within easy reach, which provide guided tours and tastings."
Local area
Larch House is situated in Glenshee close to the A93 road, midway between Blairgowrie and Braemar, in a remote but accessible position. It is only a short drive to the popular skiing centre of Glenshee. The main sights near the house are of course the majestic Cairngorms landscape, with a particularly beautiful drive northwards through the mountains to Braemar.
Nearby paths lead straight into the hills and further up the glen, including the Cateran Trail which is a 64 mile circular walking and cycling route. Fishing, cycling, golf, wild swimming, deer stalking and skiing (in season) are all readily available nearby.
There are guide books in the house to help you organise what to see and do.
The ski centre has a chairlift which you can take up to the top, where the scenery is truly astonishing
Nearby are:
- Blairgowrie, with a good selection of supermarkets and independent shops of all kinds
- Pitlochry, a busy tourist destination, with a variety of shops and amenities, including an excellent theatre and visitor centre
- Braemar, a tourist hot spot with specialist food and gift shops
- Balmoral Castle, which lies beyond Braemar on the A93, is open to the public at times when the royal family is not in residence
- Perth and Dundee are the nearest cities to the house, are about equidistant and are easily accessible.
